The City of Taninim is the largest city on the Island and is ruled by the Dragon Lords. The Dragon Lords comprise the Synod of Lords, men and women who rose to the ruling seat of their individual Houses. The king is chosen from among the Dragon Lords by the Dragon himself.

Taninim is a dark city, ruled by vicious and predominately  evil men and women all Gifted by the Dragon. There are 39 Houses all together, but only 9 Ruling Houses that make up the Synod of Lords. The remaining are vassal Houses to the nine. 

There are two classes of people in Taninim: scions and drudges. Scions are family members of the House Aluph (head of the House) to the fourth cousin. Drudges are anyone else, forming most of the working class in the city.

The city is divided into nine wards, each ruled nearly independently by one of the Ruling Houses. Vassal Houses live within these wards, making up part of the militias, merchants, artisans, and work force of each Ruling Houses.

Taninim represents (in our world) the lost and those who walk after the flesh and not after the Spirit.
