About the
Phoenix Isle

The Phoenix Isle both an analogy and metaphor of Christianity. Where the Phoenix represents the Holy Spirit and the Dragon the devil, these novels are meant to exemplify Christian qualities, characteristics, and truths in a fun, adventurous, and subtle manner. Each novel has its own complete story, following very flawed characters who must overcome their own battle between the Spirit and the flesh.
Each year, the island is reborn during the Rebirth, offering a completely new landscape from year to year. One year it could be desert, the next jungle or tundra. Every year is different and provides hundreds of stories to explore Christian truths and uplift the name of Jesus Christ.
I make no apologies for the Christian themes in these novels, but neither are they preachy. The lessons learned are the ones the characters learn–often the hard way. Unbelievers would thoroughly enjoy these books, and if you simply want good, clean, adventure stories that are well-written and highly entertaining, look no further!

				The gift in all. A wonderful tale of courage and friendship. Both were needed. The lucid prose and descriptive writing had me wishing that someone had thought of making a movie of the story. Perhaps someone has and I am not aware of it.

				Couldn't put it down.this I had a fall and ended up in the hospital and now I'm in a Care Center for Physical therapy. It can get boring but I saw this book on Amazon and got it. I started reading it on a Tuesday and finished it up today Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. I did have some things to do, but picked up my Kindle and kept reading. I loved the story. It didn't strike me as just for young people. I got a kick out of it and that Rascal Roy. It also had great lessons in friendship and not doing everything for your own benefit but to put other people first. I don't mean to repeat myself, BUT I LOVED THE BOOK! Can't wait to read the next one.

				Although the story started a bit slow it improved a lot once Roy began his quest with a couple of surprising companions. The book was well-written and edited a fine degree, which I very much appreciated. Other things I appreciated was the clean dialogue. No swearing, no sexual entanglements, not even unwarranted violence. Very clean...I'd have no problem reading this to my little grand-daughter.I enjoyed this book, which although the first of a series, was self-contained and come to a satisfying end following the quest. Well done and keep up the good work.

Facing ourselves, our motives, and what on our hearts isn’t always as clear as we think they are. Sometimes things must be put right before our eyes before we can see the destruction our motives bring about. Most usually we not only hurt others but hurt ourselves more for holding on to destructive thoughts. I began this series only because of the reviews of others who said they never really cared for this genre but gave it a try just because of the wonderful David series from this author. Alas that is also the way I decided to try the first book. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter, mostly out of curiosity, after that I was caught up in the storyline, I couldn’t stop lol. 				Magical! Every now and then there comes a story that exudes something magical that one can't quite put a finger on it, and Mr. Baker has managed to do so with this story. I throughly enjoyed it!The Phoenix Quest is a powerfully told coming of age story. Richly descriptive, with strong characters and interesting plotlines, this novel sucked me in quickly!I definitely recommend this clean read, and I'm running back to the Kindle store to purchase the next book, if it's available!

				The Quest Continues.... The author's desire is to create stories that his children would enjoy...and the result is a another story for all ages. It centers on the three young adults who returned from the previous book's quest. They have matured and have been given gift(s) to be used to help those in their kingdom. A serious threat occurs and they embark on a mission. This time, the key character in the quest has changed from the first book. The reader sees her struggles and also shares in her journey to recognition/resolution. The bonds of friendship are clearly shown along the way. It is an interesting twist to see how their physical world has radically changed as well as the behavior of some of its occupants. Again, dangers and challenges, twists and turns make it interesting and the lessons learned are good reminders to us all.

				Great quest This book surprised me. It was more than an adventure. It has great lessons for young readers and it is a very well done story. The twists and turns are well planned by the author without frustrating the reader. I hope the author continues writing more in this series..... on to book two now!

It is a quest adventure where an unlikely trio face the dangers and challenges. They mature as a result and the lessons they learn can apply to us all. The fantasy world is well developed but not too complicated to readily understand. There's enough action and interesting settings/creatures to keep one's attention throughout. It is a complete story where the quest is completed, yet there is room for more. For example, there is another settlement of people who follow the opposing force that is mentioned...probably a future story there. Looking forward to more!

For example, armor that shines does so because it is burnished, not brandished, and it should have been harder to walk on a hillside because the ground sloped, not because it slopped. The text contains enough mistakes like that to be distracting to me.

The Rebirth

Every year, the Phoenix dies and is reborn from the ashes. This rebirth symbolizes salvation and renewal (2 Corinthians 5:17). The Island changes with it, terraforming the land into something new each year.
Phoenix Kind

Symbolizing the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), the goodly creatures of the Island were created to counterbalance the Dragon Spawn. They possess peaceful and helpful natures.
Dragon Spawn

Symbolizing the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21), these creatures of the Dragon are violent, evil, and dangerous to humanity.. The Dragon created them to corrupt and to destroy mankind.
Phoenix and Dragon Gifts

Both the Phoenix and the Dragon can Gift individuals with power.
Representing the Gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4-11), the Phoenix’s Gifts give individuals spiritual power that builds, heals, and creates.
The devil also has power and the Bible tells us that he can impart that power to his own followers, so too, the Dragon’s Gifts represents the devil’s destructive power. These Gifts destroy, separate, and bring to ruin.
