Ideas That May Go Nowhere
These ideas are possible future writing projects. Honestly, I have no idea if I’ll get to them or not. They just have been rattling around in my head, and I may take a stab at developing them or not.
- The Resurrected: This book series idea is based on the verse "It is appointed unto man once to die." I've heard this verse used to explain that Enoch and Elijah will be the two witnesses in Revelation because they have not yet died. There are a lot of flaws in that thinking, but primarily, if that verse is so literally true, then what about all those who already died once and then were resurrected? Lazarus, Tabitha, Jairus' daughter, and many others? If they died once, then can they die again (based on such a literal interpretation of the verse)? Pretend, therefore, that they cannot die, that they are still alive to day, only in hiding--waiting for the rapture or the second coming of Christ. How would they interact with the world, with us? What would their lives be like? What happens if they get hurt or have something amputated? Can they get sick? What adventures would they have working behind the scenes? Would there be a group of people out to capture or destroy them if possible? Anyway, it's an idea.
- What if the Parables Were Real: I think it would be fun to take the key parables that Jesus taught and expand them into a full story...possibly novel length, but likely into a broader book of short stories. Without taking anything away from the teachings (because that's the main thing), it would be interesting to expand upon the Prodigal Son story, to see how he wasted his substance, to explore his descent into the pig pen, and then to show him coming to himself and seeking to return home. What about the Good Samaritan or the parable of the talents? Anyway, it sounds fun to research and write.
- The Hand of God Series: Science fiction novels set in the year 2475. Our solar system is colonized. Religion is dead and outlawed. Resources for use in space exploration is growing sparse and new resources are required. Exploration teams are sent to new solar systems, but in doing so they wake something up, something that sees humanity as an invasive parasite that must be destroyed. To fight these aliens off, a team is sent to retrieve a doomsday weapon buried and hidden by long dead group of scientists calling themselves the Hand of God Initiative. Supposedly, this weapon can save humanity. What they find however, is a pair of ten year old children frozen in stasis--twins, a boy and a girl. They discover that one is totally good and the other totally evil--created this way on purpose. How could a pair of ten year olds be the doomsday weapon designed to save humanity? This series will explore a variety of Christian concepts: faith, blindness to both good and evil, athiesm, the possibility of life beyond earth (and more).
